How do you extend a tiller handle?
Place your foot on the Tiller, so it does not move when extending it.
Take off the cap covering the "till lock nut."
Find where to put in your extension (make sure that hole fits through your new Tiller). You may need to sand down any rough edges.
Screw the tiller handle into the tiller head.
Replace tiller lock nut cap when finished.
How do you lock a tiller?
Make sure the Tiller is in a locked position. Unlock the Tiller by rotating it until it clicks off the tiller pinion, then rotate clockwise to release the tiller wheel.
Locate the tiller bar on the tiller wheel and secure it with a tiller lever. See the picture below for an example of the location of the tiller bar on the tiller wheel (it may vary depending on your motor). Uncouple tiller wheel from tiller bar by unscrewing bolt holding wheel to tiller handle.
Open the tiller handle to unlock the Tiller from the tiller bar by rotating the tiller handle counterclockwise until it cannot rotate anymore.
Locate tiller bar coupling on tiller wheel and secure with the bolt. Secure tiller lever in position by tightening bolt.
